Upgrade of Lighting and Power in School

Oakleaf Electrical were extremely proud to be appointed by our client, the New Beacon School, to design the electrical installation “The Beacon Centre”.

Works commenced in the summer of 2016 and we worked under the control of the main contractor, Baxall Construction.

Our challenge was to meet the tight deadline required by the client and to minimise disruption to the school, its staff, pupils, parents and visitors, whilst carrying out the works.

We installed metal containment throughout for lighting and power circuits and sub-main cabling to various distribution boards, within the three-storey building.

Within the plant room, a multi-metered panel board was installed with MCCB protective devices, to each of the distribution boards.

Lighting was all controlled by motion sensors, with daylight dimming.

In the main hall we worked very closely with the school’s own Theatre company, as this area was to be used, not only for sports, but also for Theatrical events by the school. Dimming racks were installed, as well as AV cabling. Emergency lighting was installed throughout the new building.

The client was extremely pleased with the end result, which looked outstanding.

The project value was in the region of £150k and completed over a six month period in 2017.

Although the management has changed at the New Beacon School, we still work very closely with the new management team.
