Electrical Installation of Large Office Area
Sector: Building Contractors
Services: Electrical Installation • Electrical Testing • LED
Address: Berry Gardens, Redwall Lane, Linton, near Maidstone, Kent
This project was awarded to Oakleaf Electrical, following competitive tender and full design carried out by Hawdens Consultants, based in Faversham, Kent.
The work involved a full electrical installation on the first floor of the premises, with the ground floor mainly used for storage of fruit.
We successfully worked closely with the main contractor, Bauvill, as well as their client, who themselves had very strict and exacting standards.
Initially, we installed dedicated supplies to 4 temporary site transformers, within the new building, as well as supplies to the main contractor’s site portacabins, outside of the main building.
The main installation works included the following:
- New panel boards and distribution boards, within the first floor intake room and Intake and Despatch areas, on the ground floor
- Steel wire armoured sub-main cabling to distribution boards and UPS equipment on first floor, as well as distribution boards in ground floor Intake and Dispatch areas
- Installation of basket/tray containment above suspended ceiling and below raised floor
- Installation of lighting and emergency lighting throughout first floor, staircases and Dispatch and Intake areas on ground floor. This included motion sensors, installed with corridor function, to allow main walkways to remain illuminated, even without movement
- Standard motion sensors were installed to staircases, offices, canteen, WC’s and washing areas
- Installation of under floor busbar track and power to new desks. Installation of socket outlets, hand dryers, supplies to kitchen equipment, door access spurs and mechanical equipment
- Testing, upon completion of electrical installation, including emergency lighting and commissioning of automated lighting
- Provision of O&M Manual and “as installed” drawings, upon completion of works
The project value was in the region of £230K and works were carried out from December 2018 and completed September/October 2019.
